Apache vs Skype

Share More

Walah, apaan lagi nih? Ever heard of how the hell could apache service failed to start because of skype!? Well now you do! it happened to me. I’ve been having these two guys working together for quite some time, and everything seems to run smoothly. Well, at least untill a few minutes ago, when suddenly my Apache failed to start. It complained that the port is being used by something else. Very annoying, huh?

Apache Error - make_sock

(OS 10048)Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. : make_sock: could not bind to address 127.0.0.1:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down

After a bit of needless busy, I found that skype is using this port as default, but will try to use others if it failed. So I presume that I might never run skype before I start apache, which could explain why it never failed me before. Anyway, you can configure Skype Connection (Tools – Options – Connection), just uncheck everything and restart skype. It helped me through the day (^_^)
